Spellex HTML Applet Technical Support

How to enable the Verbose parameter

If you are unable to diagnose the cause of a problem with Spellex HTML Applet, enabling the applet's Verbose parameter may provide helpful diagnostic information. When the Verbose parameter is enabled, Spellex HTML Applet records additional information to the browser's Java console. This information may be helpful in determining the cause of a problem. When contacting Spellex Support for assistance, you should include the browser's Java console log.

To enable the Verbose parameter, edit the HTML file which uses Spellex HTML Applet. Locate the applet's <APPLET> tag, then locate the <PARAM> tags within the <APPLET> tag. Add a new <PARAM> tag like the one shown below (if there is already a "Verbose" <PARAM> tag, modify it to make it look like the one shown below):

<PARAM NAME="Verbose" VALUE="true">

The PARAM tag can be placed anywhere among any other Spellex HTML Applet PARAM tags, but must appear before the </APPLET> tag. There should be only one "Verbose" <PARAM> tag.

After enabling the Verbose parameter, you may need to force the browser to re-load the page which uses Spellex HTML Applet.

Once the Verbose parameter has been enabled, you can re-run the test that reproduces the problem you are experiencing. Diagnostic information will be recorded to the browser's Java console. Consult your browser's documentation for instructions on accessing the Java console. If your browser uses Sun's JVM, consult the JVM's documentation for help with viewing the Java console.

The contents of the Java console can be copied to the clipboard and pasted into an e-mail message when you contact Spellex Technical Support.
